Ruler — Measure Pixel Distance — Privacy Policy

Last updated: 2026-06-20 · Dolphin Studio LLC, Wisconsin, USA

Short version: Ruler collects nothing and sends nothing. It only draws a measuring overlay on the page you choose, entirely on your device.

Data we collect

None. Ruler does not collect, store on our servers, transmit, sell, or share any personal or usage data. It makes no network requests of any kind.

How it works & permissions

When you click the toolbar icon, Ruler uses the activeTab permission (granted by that click) and scripting to draw a crosshair measuring overlay on the current page so you can pick two points and read the pixel distance and X/Y offset between them. It has no host permissions and runs on a page only when you click to activate it — it cannot read pages you visit in the background, and it does not read page content.

Clipboard

Ruler uses the clipboardWrite permission to copy the measurement result (the two coordinates and the dx/dy values) to your clipboard when you finish measuring, so you can paste it. It never reads your clipboard.

Third parties & analytics

None. No analytics, no ads, no trackers, no external SDKs, no remote code.
